final exam blog post-5/10/17

it was cool to use Office 365 and PowerPoint mix. I liked how you can add video, music and draw on the presentation. It was a little hard to figure out how to use it with all of the things you can do. compared to google docs, I think 365 isn't as good. Google is a lot easier to use. I might use PowerPoint mix again in the future if i feel like making a cool presentation.

For my website I chose to use Wix because it was cool and had a lot of different options. I really enjoyed creating the website and I thought it was pretty easy. I would definitely use a tool like these in the future to create a website if I was making a presentation for a school project. I especially liked all of the different options for the type of website you wanted.

My two favorite websites from the class were Maggie's and Grace's. I liked Maggie's because she did hers on soccer and I also did Mine about soccer. She also added a lot of color and pictures which made the website stand out. I like Graces because It was also about soccer and it had a really cool background picture. I also used to play for sporting blue valley so It was cool to see a website about that.

I have never created a website before. I selected wix for my website instead of weebly because it seemed simpler and it had more options for templates. I think that wix has a greater opportunity for customization. I selected soccer as my sport because I played soccer last year as a freshmen.

This project was a fun way to introduce others to apps that we enjoy using. I liked doing this project because we got to pick which app we wanted and also we got to choose the presentation website that we used. That made the project very fun to be able to have that choice. I learned about a lot of different apps that I had never heard of and will probably download. Therefore, It was an interesting activity and we got to see what other people liked to do.

I have never used google drive to create a form. I do not even know what that means. I don't think i have ever used any survey generating software. Therefore, i have no experience with them.

How often do you utilize applications "apps" on your phone/tablet to make your life easier or more convenient?  Can you imagine life without "apps"?  How would your daily life be different if "apps" did not exist? 

I utilize applications on my phone very often. I use the messaging apps to get a hold of people i need to. I also use the phone app and face-time app to talk to people when I need to. I also use apps for social media such as snap chat, Instagram, and twitter. I couldn't imagine life without apps because we all use them so often. If they didn't exist I wouldn't be able to google things.

4/3/17- Weekend

My weekend was fun. On Friday I stayed home and watched Netflix. On Saturday I hung out with friends. Later that night I went to a bonfire with friends. It was fun. On Sunday I went to five guys to eat and then went to top golf with friends and we had a good time. I won with the most points. Sunday night I finished all the homework I had to.

3/31/17 NCAA reflection

What have you learned by competing in our class NCAA basketball competition? Had you filled out a bracket prior to this class?  Did you follow any of the games during the tournament out of curiosity?  What have you learned about Google Docs & Sheets by creating your bracket & spreadsheet with them?

I have learned that it is fun to make a bracket and see if you were right after the teams play. I had filled out a bracket prior to this class but not this year. I watched some of the games such as the KU games. I learned that Google sheets can add formulas to your pages to make it easier and faster to do things. I also learned that you can just drag the corner of a cell and it will fill all the way down. I learned how to create a bracket on google docs and insert shapes. I also learned how to group certain things together to make them one item that you can move together.

3/30/17 Movies/ TVshows

 I never get out anymore & need ideas for great some movies or a TV Series to watch in my free time. What is the best movie(s) you have seen in the past year.  Is there a TV Series that I just HAVE to see? What is the genre of the movie(s) you are recommending (I don't like horror...). Convince me that your movie(s) and/or TV Series suggestions are ones that I should see immediately, but don't give the plot away.  GO! :-)

I would recommend Parks and recreation. It is a TV series you can find on Netflix and it is a comedy. It is similar to the office if you have seen that.  Another TV series I liked was lost which is a show on Netflix that is about a group of people who get stranded on an island after their plane crashes. A movie that came out recently is Finding Dory. It is the sequel to Finding Nemo and they are trying to find Dory while she is trying to find her birth parents. Another Movie That came out recently is Captain America Civil War and it is about the avengers and they are on different sides and go head to head. You should definitely check that out if you like action movies.

Over spring break I worked at price chopper almost every day. Some of my family members went to Hawaii without me and got to spend time at the beach. I Also rode my moped the last couple days when it was warm out and that was fun. I swam in my indoor pool with a few friends and also went to friends houses. on saint Patrick's day I went to top golf and they gave us survivor glasses and necklace that were both green. Another thing I did was play pinball on an actual pinball machine.

Brandon N- I liked the colors and the format and especially the topic which was how to make an infographic.

Grace E- I liked her topic about swimming. I also liked the background and learned that flippers are $20

I enjoyed this project because we got to be creative and come up with our own topic. I liked seeing what other people decided to do.

I have learned that infographics can help people obtain information in a more fun way. I really enjoyed creating my own infographic because it could've been about anything I wanted it to be and I chose something I thought was interesting which was the differences between Coke vs Pepsi. You could use an infographic in school when you are creating a project and need a way to present. You can use an infographic in your personal life when you want to persuade someone to do something or get something. I used Piktochart and it was pretty easy to navigate and had lots of cool features. I would for sure use it again.

The purpose of an infographic is to show data about certain things in an interesting way using less words. The best information to display with an infographic is to Inform people about a certain topic, to try to persuade people to one thing over another, or to compare and contrast two things. Infographics help convey a message to a audience by using more diagrams, pictures and statistics instead of using words. you could use an Infographic in a class assignment if you are suppose to create a presentation and need a way to make it interesting. Infographics can be a fun and intriguing way to display information that you have researched. Most people like to have visuals when learning knew things. Reading can get boring so making an infographic can be helpful for students to learn things. It can also help students who are unmotivated to learn more. you should always try to be interesting with presentations and infographics are a fantastic way to do that.

2/21/17 Canva vs. Lucid Press

Now that you have been exposed to two online design programs, write a 5-10 sentence reflection on your thoughts on both of them.

• Which one was the easiest to join & use?
• Provide 2 pros/cons of using both Canva & Lucid Press
• In your opinion, which program created the nicest, trendiest documents?

Both Canva and Lucid Press can be very interesting and useful. I enjoyed using them and figuring out all of the cool designs and colors that could be put on them. It is cool how you can find already formatted business cards and flyers to use in real life. I think they are both unique and fun. If I had to choose one to use for a real business, I would use lucid press because of all of the different templates there are. Overall the two online design programs share similarities and also have unique features that make them different and it is cool to see what you can create with both of them. I think Lucid press was easier to join and use. I Also think lucid press had the nicest and trendiest documents. I think Canva had more features that cost money. a couple pros of both Canva and Lucid Press is they can create business documents and they both include many different choices in design. a couple cons of Canva and Lucid Press are they have some templates that cost money and you have to sign in to use them.

this weekend I went to sweetheart and it was fun. We took pictures at prairie fire and it was cool because of the glass wall. after pictures, we went to dinner at Jack Stack and I got a pork sandwich.  after dinner we went home and changed clothes and then went to a friends house. I did not go to the game at southwest. Sweetheart was a blast!

2/9/17 Kids these days

Kids these days are always on their phone using that weird snap-chat thing. Even during school these hoodlums are just on their phones and listening to music with their earbuds in. I am sure they could find something better to do with their spare time such as go jogging, or read a book. The Music they listen to is so annoying with all the loud noises and people talking so fast that you can't understand them. They don't eat very well either, they should consume a more nutritious diet. Also they are so disobedient to their parent and that is not a healthy relationship.

Reflect on your experience completing this partner project.  Was it hard to work with your partner without talking?  Can you imagine conducting business in this way on a regular basis?  What did you learn from this experience?

This project was very interesting. I found that is was easy to communicate with my partner without talking. All we had to do was email each other. It was also fun to create our project and make it over anything we wanted. I could imagine conducting business in this way on a regular basis but it would get pretty boring. What I learned from this experience is that you don't have to talk to someone verbally to understand the other persons ideas.

Do you agree with the Ted Talk?  Why or why not?  Will you change any of your current behaviors as a result of listening to this talk?  What impact do you think this digital age will have on society in the future?

I agree with the Ted Talk because even though we have access to all sorts of technology, we shouldn't over use it. I think it is not a good idea to depend on technology alone. I think people need to learn how to have real conversations and socialize because otherwise the world will become boring. I will most likely not change any of my current behaviors from watching this but I will keep it in mind and try not to become even worse about using technology. I think the digital age will have some positive impacts such as having access to a lot of information. although it could have a few negative impacts such as people becoming depended on technology.

My thoughts on this article are that it has a good idea and good message. I think that knowing what you are doing with your life is a good thing. I agree with this passage because it is important to know that you cant always rely on other people to do things for you. I also think that people should try to help their selves and other people in the world. People are always saying that they are bored but they should go out and find something that they would like to do. by doing that you are helping yourself and the community.

One social bookmarking site that I learned about is symbaloo. Symbaloo has a very creative design and you can put a lot of bookmarks on it and even use other peoples web-mixes. I would like to start using it and see all the different features it has.

1/26/17  Reflect on your recent experience with bookmarking within Chrome & Symbaloo.  Compare & contrast these two bookmarking options.  Which one did you like the best? Is there a time when one would be better than the other?

Chrome and Symbaloo can both be used for bookmarking. Chrome is much more simple and inst as noticeable for bookmarking. Symbaloo is much more noticeable and the bookmarks are all over the screen. On Symbaloo You can be much more creative with where you put the icons and you can fit more of them on the screen at one time. I liked chrome better because it is more simple and easier to use. Although symbaloo could be better when you are a person who continuously uses lots of websites

I don't know what Social bookmarking is but google says it is an online service which allows users to add, annotate, edit, and share bookmarks of web documents. the purpose is to share stuff online. I've never used a social bookmarking tool that I know of. This is the first time I have heard of this. I learned that social bookmarking is a way for people to store, organize, search, and manage Bookmarks. It can also introduce sites to others with relevant tastes.

I think Power point is easier to use because it is more simple looking and Prezi has all the movements which can be confusing. Power Point creates more effective presentations because there isn't as much to look at and it's less confusing. Prezi could be better when you are trying to make a fun and creative presentation. Power Point could be better for a presentation where you have to follow the directions exactly. Next time I create a presentation I would chose to use Power Point because I have more experience with it and it seems easier.
